The United States often can seem like something of an outlier when it comes to politicians and climate change. After all, it was major news in the campaign when former GOP candidate Jon Huntsman tweeted that he trusts scientists on global warming. It was such a controversial assertion that he later walked it back.

Scott Walter sometimes felt as forgotten as a jilted prom date in recent weeks while visiting nine Wisconsin towns to discuss the states turkey management program.

But Walter was neither bored nor complaining as he prepared for the final two meetings Monday and Tuesday night in Minocqua and Stevens Point. As the Department of Natural Resources chief wild turkey biologist, Walter feels relief and satisfaction.
